While dealing with health issues and the ensuing decline in new posts, it was pleasing to see the blog still getting many hits as new people discovered it.
There has been a lot of traffic for the six volume Expecting Rain series, featuring Bob Dylan's Never Ending Tour and I didn't know why, until I saw a review mentioned on the Expecting Rain site.
Looking up the site I discovered a link to individual reviews (https://cultfollowing.co.uk) for each volume of the Bob Dylan - 'Expecting Rain' series that I had compiled.
The members of the Expecting Rain forum had voted on the best live tracks from Dylan's complete career and compiled a top 100.
I decided to use only the best selections from the Never Ending Tour as I already had many of the bootlegs containing pre-1988 recordings and the majority of those tracks have been officially released.
The compilation was initially a nine-disc set and included not only the fifty-six Never Ending Tour tracks - that made the top 100 listing of Dylan's best live tracks but also numerous highly voted on tracks from the short list that members had used to compile the Top 100.
This information was available on the Dylan site 'Expecting Rain' during 2011 and the bootleg collection was named in honour of the site.
While working on it I decided to use the information and make it a chronological introduction to the Never Ending Tour. There was no stand alone release from Sony/Columbia (still isn't but surely an official bootleg series must come soon). The final touch was to edit it to a more manageable six-disc set.
The Lossless Bob site was used to find the best version of each selected recording, when the gradings were close I downloaded each track recording to determine the best sounding. The tracks were usually sourced from the Dimeadozen torrent site.
It's gratifying to read the reviews on the Cultfollowing site. It's given the series a new lease of life, so much so that I intend to devote some time to listen through them all again. You can find further information and links on this blog page.
One further point while looking through the original lists I discovered one track missing: Do-Re-Mi from the 'People Speak' documentary 8 Dec-09*** the track should be inserted between Billy and Forgetful Heart on Volume 6. I will check through my hard drives and post a link on the original post page.
Also on Volume 6, the unlisted track at the end is 'Thunder On The Mountain' from Mashnantucket 27 Nov-10.
