Ryan Adams & The Cardinals

Sebastian Boschert has made a stunning board recording with sound quality better than many official live album releases. The performance by Ryan and the band is magnificent.
A third of the set list features songs from the 2005 releases Jacksonville City Nights and Cold Roses. Three tracks are from the third album Demolition (2002). Freeway To The Canyon is a Neil Casal song - guitarist with the Cardinals and fine singer-songwriter in his own right. Bird Song is a cover version originally written by Jerry Garcia in tribute to Janis Joplin after her death. It appeared on Jerry’s Garcia album (1972) and was played live by the Grateful Dead during the early seventies. Blue Hotel appeared a year later on the Follow The Lights EP (2007) and Trouble on Wheels remains unreleased.

Ryan Adams and the cardinals were an unstoppable machine from 05 to 09. No better live act could compare, in my opinion. Part grateful dead part rolling stones with gram parsons mixed in made a wonderful sound. Ryan is a great song writer and the cardinals were the perfect band for him during this highly creative time. This show here has to be the best audio quality of any bootleg I've ever heard. Thanks a lot for putting this on your site. It most certainly deserves a spot in the greatest bootlegs of all time
ReplyDeleteThanks for your excellent comment grifftrain, surprisingly the first about this post. It's a stunning performance with sensational sound quality.
ReplyDeleteJust discovering this! Holy cow! I have all his CDs, am a huge fan but some of the versions of these songs are just fabulous. The band is full of grace, masters all. I so wish RA would get back on the road with a band, not to rock out so much (his health issues for one thing) but just to have all this MUSIC back with these great songs.
ReplyDeleteIs there any possibility that the link(s) for this could be re-posted? Thanks
