#14 VAN MORRISON - Choppin' Wood (Flac)

In October 2000 Van Morrison began work on his second collaboration with Linda Gail Lewis. The previous month ‘You Win Again’ an album of rock ‘n’ roll, country and blues covers had been released.
 
This next album provisionally titled 'Choppin’ Wood' contained Linda Gail Lewis’s vocals and piano parts overdubbed on all bar one track.
 
Van started work on a rearranged collection, he began to record a new batch of songs and re-recorded Linda’s parts on some of their original recordings For reasons unknown he froze Linda out from the recording process and refused to let her hear any of the new songs, she quit the tour and the album was eventually discarded.
 
‘Down The Road’ took it’s place an inferior and bloated release compared to Choppin’ Wood.

    Great sound quality and nice songs too. Van sounds very relaxed here.

    Meet Me In The Indian Summer is a really stong song, some of the lyric appears on a track 'Celtic New Year' from the Magic Time album (2005) as does a different version of 'Just like Greta' it's longer here with a keyboard solo and the contribution of Linda Gail Lewis.

    If you are using a PC you shouldn't have too much bother. A flac plug in is required if the files won't play once you have opened the RAR. The plug in will also enable you to burn to cd.

    If it's a MAC you are using it may be more difficult but Google is your friend.

      Thanks for the great advice ... I had to buy a program that would open it, but I eventually was able to burn a CD !!!

    For Mac users, you'll need an app like TOAST to convert FLAC to mp3 or whatever.

    Also, For Mac users, I use an app like All2MP3 to convert FLAC to mp3 or other formats to mp3..

      Your welcome, some of the songs appeared on studio albums in a radically different form around this time.
      It's worth seeking them out just to hear the differences
